Stock Control

The largest and most viable market for RFID application deployment is the Supply Chain. All operators will see improvements in operational efficiency, from the supplier of raw material to the manufacturer, the transportation company, the wholesaler and the retailer. Knowing where goods are, when they are delivered and where they move to, allows for pro-active decision-making, reduced loss of time (and money), improved productivity and effective planning and execution of all processes and activities within the entire supply chain, which ultimately leads to the ability to meet and satisfy customer demand

People

Customer service, employee safety and productivity are all enhanced by knowing exactly where employees are within your building or site. Access to specific or un-authorized zones within the building can be controlled automatically. Associations between people and assets/machines can be monitored, for example dangerous vehicles and their drivers, laptops and their owners. Visitor movements can be tracked for security or automated assistance purposes. Tour guides can easily account for missing persons (or baggage) at tourist sites or embarkation points.

Asset Tracking

Knowing where your company’s assets are at all times and limiting the removal of such assets to pre-authorized personnel only, reduces incidents of theft and loss. Pre-authorization can be automated by linking particular assets to personnel tags and creating an electronic relationship between the two tags. Tags are continuously monitored by the reader network, in real time, not just when they arrive, move or disappear. Movement, tilt and anti-tamper sensors provide advance warning of problems, long before assets disappear.By linking the activation or de-activation of facilities such as projectors, air-conditioners, lights and automatic doors to personnel tags, companies have better control over the costs of utilizing such facilities. The long range nature of Wavetrend active RFID technology enables monitoring at greater distances (many 10’s of metres). Thus outdoor continuous monitoring becomes practical, such as for containers or vehicles in a storage yard. Active RFID is particularly effective where there is a requirement for a multitude of tags, which need to be easily installed/transferred amongst assets, and monitored continuously and wirelessly, even whilst moving.

Transportation

Vehicle tracking in and out of yards, at delivery points, factories, etc can be automated with active RFID. Also for cases where the driver cannot easily reach the existing controller, e.g. large wide yards, access ramps with tight corners, for disabled drivers, for large vehicles and emergency vehicles.

PC Access Control

Provides personalized PC access control. A screensaver is automatically invoked when the authorized user moves away from the PC. The previous application is automatically restored upon their return. Ideal for sensitive PC applications, interview rooms, public access areas etc.

Medical

With RFID readers installed in theatres, it is possible to monitor and record the time a patient spends in an operating theatre. This makes for more accurate billing and resolves disputes between surgeons/hospitals and medical aid insurance companies.RFID also enables the efficient tracking and monitoring of expensive medical equipment as it moves around the hospital, ensuring it can be located instantly in an emergency or for maintenance purposes. Key staff can also be located with ease.

Access Control

The Weigand interface allows Wavetrend RFID tags to be integrated with existing Access Control and Security systems. With a larger physical range than swipe-cards, allowing hands-free operation, active RFID tags can be used by disabled persons or in hygiene critical applications to provide a cost-effective enhancement to installed systems.

Underground

In applications where GPS is not effective (e.g. underground car parks, mines) a RFID network will track and monitor your assets. Tags and readers can be used interchangeably, e.g. tags in vehicles with readers at strategic fixed locations or tags fixed and mobile readers providing a 'where am I' function.

Vehicle Weighbridges

RFID increases turn-around time and accuracy at the weighbridge by automatically identifying the driver, vehicle and trailer. The weighbridge system, with incorporated RFID software, will control traffic at access and departure points, identify the vehicle, weigh the load and quickly dispatch the vehicle automatically, after recording all details. Ideal for agricultural contractors, landfill and refuse sites, quarries and all sites.
